Every trail run should tell a story.
The course should lead the participant on an imaginatively crafted journey filled with intrigue, unexpected twists and turns, and an all-consuming plot that never loses momentum. The story of a great trail run should read like a classic and enrich the souls of everyone who races it.
The Featherbed Trail Run is not just a run along a trail, it is a bespoke, encompassing, paradigm-shifting experience.
After 5 years break due to the 2017 devastating Knysna fires, the Featherbed Nature Reserve opens its pristine & freshly cut routes to host the Featherbed Trail Run 2022
A race turned on its head. The 12th edition of the Featherbed Trail Run turns the event, quite literally, on its head. For the first time, the course will be reversed, starting in town with the closing kilometers weaving down the Garden Routes' most iconic feature, Knysna’s Western Heads.
Profoundly more than just a run. The Featherbed Restaurant, with its breath-taking setting as the gateway to the Western Heads, will be the fishline venue hosting and entertaining participants and spectators as they replenish their energies and relish their race experiences.
Rounding off the most memorable day of your winter will be the Ferry Trip across the estuary and back to town.
Spectators have the chance to join the experience with their friends and loved ones.
@ 9:30 am A Ferry departing from the Cruise Cafe will take them across the Knysna lagoon to the Featherbed Nature Reserve restaurant where a scrumptious Brunch and music will await them. Here they will be able to welcome all the athletes through the finish line.
The prizegiving ceremony and lucky draw will be around 11:30 am
Return Ferries to Cruise Cafe every hour from 10:30 am
Please notice: The only access to Featherbed Nature reserve / Finish line is via taking part in the race or via spectator experience tickets.

Important Information:
The Featherbed Nature Reserve, situated on the Western Head in Knysna, is the premier eco-experience on the Garden Route.
Featherbed Co. gives visitors to the Garden Route an unforgettable experience on the Knysna Lagoon. The Lagoon, more accurately defined as an estuary, has five fresh water rivers flowing in from the surrounding Outeniqua Mountains meeting with the surge of seawater from the Indian Ocean through the mighty headlands – known as the ‘Knysna Heads’ - the grand sandstone cliffs towering above the entrance to the Knysna Lagoon.
